Montclair, NJ – The Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation created an exhibit which chronicles the Township’s rich African-American history, from the early 1800s to the present day. The exhibit includes narratives about some of Montclair’s trailblazing business leaders, politicians, athletes, medical professionals and civil rights champions.
Also included are sections on Montclair’s flourishing arts and cultural scenes covering some of the most famous names associated with them.
The exhibit is in the form of four 24” X 60” panels to be placed in various locations throughout the Township. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it will take the place of the Foundation’s ever-popular traveling Trolley Tour which brought audiences to more than 40 sites notable for their importance to Montclair’s African-American history.
The Foundation invites interested organizations and businesses to host the four panels for display at their establishments.
Those interested in hosting the panels should contact project organizer Betty Holloway at holb1748@aol.com or Weatau McPherson at wmcph26@comcast.net.
Watch the video with Fourth Ward Councilor David Cummings who interviews the major contributors to the creation of the panels project.
